Hope you’re ready for some good ‘ol fashion trench warfare, because we may be seeing Battlefield 5 take place in World War 1

According to a listing on German retailer World of Games on Twitter, Battlefield 5 will be released this year on October 26th and was described as “Mehrspieler Taktik Shooter im 1. Weltkrieg” which translates to “Multiplayer tactical shooter in WW1.”

The description has since been fixed to say “multiplayer tactical shooter,” but a Twitter user by the name of Thrillho has posted a screenshot of the original Tweet.

All we officially know about Battlefield 5 is that it’s happening and will go back to the military setting (not like Battlefield Hardline‘s cops-and-robbers niche). If this is true, it would be a huge risk for DICE and EA in that WW1 was all about trench warfare with a limited amount of weapons and vehicles, and if you know anything about Battlefield, it’s nowhere near as restricting as that. Whatever the case may be, we will find out more about this game in the coming months.

l love to play games and write stuff about them. I can't play something and not tell anyone how I feel about it. Call it a sickness, because it is.
