Report says Rise of the Tomb Raider sales are 3 times better on PC than Xbox

Microsoft was happy with Rise of the Tomb Raider selling over a million units for the Xbox One and Xbox 360, but are the numbers good enough to warrant Microsoft’s purchase of the limited-time exclusivity? Probably not since the PC version, which was released on January 28th, sold three times as much as the Xbox versions during the launch month period, according to research group Superdata. Some figured the low sales for the Xbox versions were due to people not being interested in Tomb Raider, or perhaps they were competing with games like Star Wars Battlefront and Fallout 4.

The data came from Superdata’s January 2016 digital sales report. “[It] sold almost three times as many units than it did on console during its first month,” the group reports.

It looks like people just weren’t interested in supporting the Xbox versions. Then again, the PC version came out during a time with lesser competition.

Now it’s estimated that Rise of the Tomb Raider has sold around 4 million units total. The PlayStation 4 version will be released later this year.
