Deadpool weighs in on the Civil War: #TeamCap

There’s something a little magical about actors who embody their on-screen personas. It’s hard to find two actors that do this better than Ryan Reynolds and Robert Downey Jr. But that doesn’t mean they have to get along.

Reynolds (aka Deadpool), whose movie is busy destroying at the box office, was pulled into the Civil War on Saturday and has decidedly cast his vote for team Captain America. Turns out it doesn’t take much to win over his favor; one tweet from Captain America star Chris Evans was enough to bring him to the side of veterans, bionic arms, and 70-year ice naps.

Problem is that RDJ didn’t take too kindly to the exchange and sent out a response of his own.

It’s an obvious dig to Evans’ “language” line from Avengers: Age of Ultron, which received some mixed reception from fans. On one hand, it was a nod to people’s perception of Captain America as a wholesome icon. On the other hand, there’s very little chance that a WWII soldier would be genuinely shocked by a curse or two. This didn’t go unnoticed by Chris Evans in his response, though.

All in all, it’s good to see the stars getting along (or not) despite the artificial divide put up between their various production studios.
