Lucasfilm teases us with a new set video for Star Wars: Episode VIII

Luke Skywalker Episode 8

Just a few days ago, Disney CEO Bob Iger had announced that Star Wars: Episode VIII had begun filming. Now, Lucasfilm has released an official press statement to “baptize” the event. Not only did they have a cool little set video for the commencement, but have also officially added three more actors to the mix. We’ll get to the actors in a second, but first let’s talk about the video. It shows a different shot of Luke Skywalker at the end of The Force Awakens, as well as the last scene. Then it’s director Rian Johnson calling for a “cut.” This basically means that Episode VIII will start off exactly where TFA left off.

Obviously, we still aren’t sure of the exact plot, as everything is being held tightly under wraps, but we can surmise that Rey will inevitably begin training as a Jedi. The other big news, was the official announcement that Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern (Jurassic Park), and Kelly Marie Tran will be joining the production. We do know that another female lead had been sought after for the film, but we don’t know where exactly they’ll be fitting in. As for Del Toro though, it’s been rumored for a while that he would be part of the film. Not only that, but that he would be playing a villain too. The real question is, what kind of villain would he be? Another lackey for the First Order, or possibly a crime lord like Jabba? Maybe even a bounty hunter. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters on December 15, 2017
