Michael Bay has stated that Transformers 5 will be the last film he’ll direct for the franchise. The next film, Transformers 6, will open on June 8, 2018, which will pit the Autobots against Warner Bros.’ Godzilla 2. Finally, Transformers 7 will release on June 28, 2019, and is the first film to take over that date.

Last March, Akiva Goldsman was brought onboard to help shepherd the Transformers cinematic universe. Several prominent writers, including “The Walking Dead’s” Robert Kirkman and Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight, were hired to join the writing team for the cinematic universe.
