Johnny Depp joins Universal’s ‘The Invisible Man’ reboot

Universal is casting some big hitters to star in their planned Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe. Johnny Depp is set to star in Universal remake of The Invisible Man. Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan, who is overseeing the entire Monsters Cinematic Universe, will produce the film. As of now, there is no director, writer, or release date set for the film.

With Johnny Depp, Universal has landed two of the biggest global stars to bring their universe together. The first of the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe, The Mummy, will star Tom Cruise and be directed by Alex Kurtzman. The film will be released on June 9, 2017 release.

Universal’s The Invisible Man was first released in 1933 and starred Claude Rains as a scientist who finds a way to become invisible. In the process, he starts to lose his sanity. The film was directed by James Whale (Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein), and was produced by Carl Laemmle Jr.
