Amsterdam opens first ever gamer hotel

Being a gamer, it’s hard when you’re travelling and trying to keep up with all the new titles that are constantly releasing. By the time you get to play your games again back home, there’s so much more that’s come out, leaving you behind. Well, you don’t have to worry about that if you happen to be in Amsterdam. They’ve recently opened up the world’s first ever gamer hotel called, The Arcade Hotel.

The hotel has 36 rooms, each of which contains vintage consoles (SNES, NES, Atari, etc.) along with a special game rental system with no added cost. Fancy a challenge with someone other than who’s in your room? They have you covered, as there are consoles in the lobby that allow you to play against other guests. There’s even old and new handhelds you can get from reception as well. If you’re looking to take a break and have a read, there is a full comic book library at your disposal.

In speaking with VG24/7, owner Daniel Salmanovich said, “I wanted to create a place where travelers and gamers feel like they are staying at a friends home.” Yes, Amsterdam has so much to offer. From the art, the culture, to riding bikes and taking in local cuisine, there is plenty to do. But if you want to just relax and take in the next challenger on a vintage console, The Arcade Hotel is the best place to do it.
