Iron Mike Tyson joins the EA UFC 2 roster

The last pre-order mystery fighter for EA’s UFC 2 has been revealed and as a few of us had predicted , it’s none other than Iron Mike Tyson. Mike has been an MMA fan and made many appearances at UFC events and on UFC television shows like the Ultimate Fighter for the past few years. The UFC has opted to go with adding the prime version of Mike Tyson to the game unless you decide to opt for reserving the ‘Deluxe’ edition. The deluxe edition of the game will retail for an extra $10 and grabs you “30 UFC Ultimate Team Premium Packs” and more importantly, the “Legacy Mike Tyson” character. By legacy they mean the Face-Tattoo, Hangover movie, “hoverboard” fail, Mike Tyson. Hoverboard Fail, Mike Tyson.

Along with the announcement video, a couple of other videos about Tyson were uploaded to the UFC 2 section of the EA Sports website that feature Dana White and Bas Rutten talking about Tyson’s influence on mixed martial arts. Bas Rutten, who is also slated to be a downloadable add on that will be free with pre-order, was a commentator for the Japanese fight promotion company, PRIDE, and is currently an MMA analyst for Inside MMA. He offers some advice on how he would approach a mixed martial arts bout with Tyson, and as you might guess, it centers around the takedown. While I wasn’t too excited about Bruce Lee in the previous version of EA’s MMA, I have to admit that Iron Mike has me a little pumped.

Interesting side note for me was how EA slipped in a few surprise heavyweight fighters who are not currently on the roster in this video, with Pat ‘HD’ Barry and UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman being featured pretty prominently.
