Back in August 2015, it was revealed that Chinese company Ledo Millenium had acquired 80% of long-time Japanese gaming company SNK Playmore for $63.5 million. The acquisition would give Ledo access to all of SNK’s properties that have been around for over 20 years including fan favorites such as Metal Slug, Fatal Fury, Samurai Showdown, Last Blade, and King of Fighters.

With King of Fighters XIV set to release later this year exclusively for the PlayStation 4, Chinese studio 37Games made the announcement that they are currently working on both an anime adaptation and a live-action TV drama based on King of Fighters.

Both the anime and TV series will serve as a way to help “recreate” the King of Fighters franchise, which is planned to air sometime this year in Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and possibly North America.

I mean nothing can be worse than that straight-to-video King of Fighters live-action North American movie, right?
