More and more news continues to come out about Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We recently reported that Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi have small cameo roles in the film. Now, news has come out that even 007 himself has a cameo and is even on-screen for a good portion of the movie.

It was actually Simon Pegg that first broke the news that Daniel Craig had a role in the film back and May, but he quickly realized the mistake he made and retracted his statement. Craig would adamantly deny the rumor during his press tour for Spectre.

“Why would I ever bother doing something like that? F—ing hell! Pffft. Play an extra in another movie. Talk to Simon Pegg. He obviously knows way more than I do. He’s just jealous because he’s not in Star Wars. He’s got some issue with JJ [Abrams, director] I don’t know what the f*** that is. You need to talk to Simon about it.””

The idea seemed very likely, given that both SPECTRE and Star Wars were both filmed at Pinewood Studios in London. As it turns out, the rumors were true and Craig did appear in the film as a stormtrooper in a pretty big scene.

Turn back now if you don’t want any spoilers…

The scene in question is the one where Rey tries to use the power of suggestion to break herself out of captivity. In the holding cell she is in, there is only one guard on duty and that guard is played by, you guessed it, 007. In the scene, Rey discovers that she can use the Jedi mind trick and has Craig’s character release her, drop his weapon and leave his weapon behind.

According to reports, Craig did not want to make a big deal out of his appearance in the film and even asked that he not be listed in the credits.
