Lucasfilm may resurrect Star Wars 1313

I remember a few years ago while attending E3, sitting in a meeting with Lucasarts as they debuted the early in-game footage of their then upcoming game Star Wars 1313. The game looked great, and was based on one of my all-time favorite Star Wars characters, Boba Fett. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when Disney took over and disbanded anything that Lucasarts was working on. This meant that Star Wars 1313 was being cancelled along with some other planned titles.

Fast forward some years later, and it seems that Boba Fett is defying the odds and climbing his way out of the Sarlaac pit yet again. In a recent interview with SlashFilm, president of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy had some interesting things to say about the cancelled game.

So our attitude is, we don’t want to throw any of that stuff away. It’s gold. And it’s something we’re spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and we may very well develop those things further. We definitely want to.

It’s apparent that there’s no confirmation of the game being resuscitated, but contextually speaking, there’s a chance. The game itself was an extraordinary thing as is, because it was being developed in collaboration with Industrial Light and Magic. If it were to come back with Disney behind it, imagine the possibilities that can stem from it. Also, would it be something that Kennedy is looking at to release hand-in-hand with a potential Boba Fett film in the future?

I’m definitely happy that all of Lucasart’s hard work hasn’t been thrown away, and that there’s the off-chance we’ll be able to see and play it in the future. Until then, enjoy the footage below from what was created so far prior. What do you think of what Kennedy said? Let us know in the comments below.
