Wizard World Gaming Cons coming in 2016

Update: Wizard World has canceled Wizard World Gaming Atlanta. The premiere will be in Portland.

You read that right, the geek world’s biggest travelling comic con is setting its sights towards video gaming in 2016. There is a total of eleven different cities listed on its website so far. The inaugural show will be hosted in Atlanta, GA, January 22nd- 24th. Other major cities on the schedule include Las Vegas,  Portland, Sacramento, St. Louis and Minneapolis.

Much like other Wizard World shows, they are promoting a bevy of celebrity guest appearances from people like WWE’s The New Day, iconic voice actor behind Mario: Charles Marinet, the crew from SMOSH games and many more. What may be even more exciting for many of you gamers out there is the inclusion of tournaments. Competitive gamers will be able to compete in games like Guilty Gear Xrd, Tekken 7, Nauruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, and three different versions of Street Fighter: Ultra Street Fighter IV, Third Strike, and Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

If you prefer competition of the table top persuasion, there will also be tournaments being held onsite for Magic the Gathering and Yu Gi Oh!

The event on paper looks to be a lot of fun. Wizard World is partnered with some rather large names in the gaming world in Capcom, Konami, and Bandai Namco. If these shows prove to be a success, it would not be hard to imagine more major game companies jumping on board.
