Watch Stephen Dorff become a superhero in American Hero trailer

Stephen Dorff is a very underrated actor, but he caught my eye as the villain, Deacon Frost, in the first Blade film starring Wesley Snipes. He has done plenty of films since then (Immortals, Public Enemies), but it looks like American Hero might be the movie that’ll help him come back in the nerdy spotlight. Check out the trailer below featuring Dorff as Melvin using crazy super powers as he helps protect the people of New Orleans.

Synopsis: Melvin (Stephen Dorff), a reluctant hero who is far from super, has been suppressing his telekinetic powers for years with booze, drugs, and women. In the process, he has failed at practically everything, most of all as a parent to his son. After a brush with death, Melvin decides to use his powers for good and clean up the streets of New Orleans with the help of his best friend/definitely-not-a-sidekick, Lucille (Eddie Griffin). For a man who can do the impossible, it might be a fight even he can’t win.

The film is written and directed by Nick Love.

American Hero hits theaters and VOD on December 11, 2015.
