The Witcher game to become a movie

witcher 3 wild hunt

The Witcher III: Wild Hunt came out this year with rave reviews and sold over 6 million copies. Now fans can expect to catch Geralt of Rivia in theaters in 2017.

The Witcher is based on the series by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. The Sean Daniel Company, the production company behind The Mummy series, announced that it is working on bringing the project to life with Polish company Platige Films, which worked on the beautiful Witcher 3 opening cinematic called “The Trail” and also on the Halo 5: Guardians cinematic scenes.

The movie will feature Geralt and will be based on the themes of The Witcher and Lesser Evil short stories from Sapkowski’s The Last Wish collection. The film is being planned as part of a series with Tomasz Baginski as the director (short film The Cathedral) and Thania St. John (Grimm, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as the screenwriter.

This isn’t the first time we’ll be seeing a Witcher movie since there is one with 2001’s The Witcher.

Even though it looks cheesy, the movie does do an okay job of capturing Geralt’s outfit and hairstyle that we’ve seen from The Witcher video games.
