New set photo of Michael Fassbender in Assassin’s Creed movie

The Assassin’s Creed movie is now under production, and you can check out the new photo from the set featuring Michael Fassbender’s backside below.

Yes, we’re not too sure what’s happening in this photo that was released by DMC Film, but we can assume that this scene is set in the modern world with Fassbender’s Callum Lynch reading a sign that says, “Progress requires sacrifice.” I’m guessing he’s the one being sacrificed. We also see some kind of symbol or scar on the back of Callum’s neck, as if he’s a test subject.

It also looks like there’s an Abstergo symbol on the back of the outfit that’s cut off.

Abstergo is the company operated by the Templars in the modern world. It is global and will be a tough organization to take down for the Assassin Order.

In the movie, Callum Lynch will experience life as his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain, thanks to the Animus technology. He’ll learn about the Assassin Order, a secret society trying to stop the Templars’ control of freedom. Thanks to the Animus technology, he will acquire new skills and knowledge needed to take care of the Templars today.

Fassbender will be joined by Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises), Ariane Labed (Before Midnight), Michael K. Williams (The Wire), Jeremy Irons (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), and Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter, Edge of Tomorrow). Justin Kurrzel is directing, who has worked with Fassbender and Cotillard before in Macbeth.

Assassin’s Creed hit theaters on December 21, 2016.
