Deadpool will dive deeper into Colossus than previous X-Men films

Colossus has been featured in three X-Men films, but they were all pretty much glorified cameos. Andre Tricoteux, who does the mocap for Colossus in the upcoming Deadpool film, sheds some light on what we can expect from the character during a Tech Times interview.

“The Colossus you’re going to see in Deadpool is very true to the original character in the comic book,” said Tricoteux. “[Director] Tim Miller had a really clear vision, and the Deadpool people had a really clear vision of what they wanted. They wanted Colossus to be very traditional to the original story.”

When asked whether the film will dive deeper into Colossus compared to the previous X-Men films, Tricoteux said yes.

“Yeah, I think you’re going to get to see more of who Colossus is,” Tricoteux said. “Like I said, we kept him really traditional to the comic book. So yes, I think people will get a better sense of who he is. But I think there’s still a lot more to be told about him. Colossus has been around in the comics since the ’70s, so I mean, I think you could do your own movie on him. Yeah, you’re going to get to see a little bit more of who he is and kind of his outlook on the world.”

Colossus in the comics has a Russian accent, and Tricoteux plays coy with that.

“Well, like I said, I can’t give too much away. We kept it very traditional to the comic books. Actually, we kept it exactly like the comics, so you could be able to derive your own conclusion from that,” Tricoteux replied.

Wade Wilson, an anti-hero smartass who breaks the fourth wall, got his accelerated healing powers thanks to the Weapon X program. Now known as Deadpool, he seeks those who have destroyed his previous life.

Tim Miller directs the movie starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlsyle, TJ Miller as Weasel, Ed Skrein as Ajax, and Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

Deadpool hits theaters on February 12, 2016.
