Mark Ruffalo discusses his role in Thor: Ragnarok

Mark Ruffalo’s take on the Hulk became a fan-favorite quickly, and is one of the many highlights of the Avengers films. It’s no surprise that the actor was invited to reprise his role in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. This was great news for fans, and now Ruffalo may be hinting at even more surprising news about his role in the film.

The Huffington Post spoke to Ruffalo during GQ’s The Gentlemen’s Fund Awards in New York City, where he spoke about the possibility of the separation of Banner and Hulk. Not only would this be an intriguing plot point, but it would be a nice treat for comic book fans who remember Doc Samson successfully separating the two in The Incredible Hulk #315.

Ruffalo joked at first when asked about his role in the next Thor movie saying, “I play Dr. Bruce Banner, and occasionally I turn into a big green, mean monster,” before adding that there’s so much he hopes to explore with the characters.

“I am excited to keep coming back to this role. I see a lot of space for it to grow,” he told HuffPost. Then he hinted at the separation. “I feel like there’s a lot of cool stuff to explore still, especially the relationship between Banner and Hulk. Hopefully, we’ll see the two of them in a scene together. That would be cool!”

That would definitely be cool! What’s even cooler is Ruffalo’s dedication to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It doesn’t look like he’s going away any time soon.

“I don’t want to overstay my welcome and I hope I never do,” he said. “If I do, I’ll be the first one to bow out.”

You can see Ruffalo as your friendly neighborhood, green monster when Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on July 28, 2017.
