While everyone is waiting to see who will win, Batman or Superman, the real question is just how well the two can work together in this weekend upcoming Robot Chicken DC Comics Special 3: Magical Friendship. The new special, which airs a week before the start of Season eight, is a must-watch with some pretty hilarious skits including man with a rock, an amusing spin on DC’s Convergence miniseries and the return of Lex Luthor (voiced by Alfred Molina once again) singing.

Thanks to Cartoon Network and DC Entertainment, we had the chance to sit in a round-table interview with the brains behind Robot Chicken, Seth Green and Matt Senreich, who were joined by DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns as they talked about how the special came together, what they could and couldn’t do as well as what happens to all of the toys they have gathered over the years, and Geoff being asked about his role in how Aquaman is now perceived compared to how he was in the ’90s.

You can watch the full round-table interview below:

Soon after we were joined by Tom Root, who is a director, writer and producer for the Robot Chicken series, as well as the original Robin himself, Burt Ward. Burt talked about joining the special along with the iconic Adam West and even told us a few tales about the original Batman television series, working with his old sparring partner Bruce Lee, and some information on the accidental leak of the Batman 66′ animated movie.

One thing Burt brought up that still rings with me is how he and Adam West still carry on the characters even 50 years later, which is honestly amazing. Like Burt said, the show was definitely ahead of its time.

The Robot Chicken DC Comics Special 3: Magical Friendship airs this Sunday on Adult Swim, with season eight starting on October 25th.
