Fans got excited during San Diego Comic-Con when it was announced that DC Comics and Warner Bros. were going to adapt the Batman: The Killing Joke comic for their upcoming animated movie. During the Batman: Bad Blood panel, the next DC animated film, it was revealed that James Tucker was going to be the director. What’s even more surprising is that DC Comics has given the okay for an R-rated version (via Stitch Kingdom).

Even though DC Comics is okay with an R-rated Killing Joke film, it doesn’t necessarily mean Tucker is going to do it.

How dark can the animated movie be? The Joker was really dark in the comic since he shot Batgirl in the back, took naked photos of her, and tortured a naked Commissioner Gordon.
