Who will play the new Mary Poppins in the sequel?

Mary Poppins

So apparently Mary Poppins is getting a remake… kinda. Unfortunately, a lot of people aren’t too happy about it! (I’m not one of those people.) The public just doesn’t want one of their precious movies remade. Some, however, are in a bit of a middle state with the whole idea. They love Mary Poppins, and of course they want more! But do they really?

Seeing as Disney is already working on so many live-action remakes, why not add another to the list, right? Well, if you’re one of those who weren’t keen on the news, I’m here to enlighten you. It’s not a remake! Disney announced it as more of a sequel to the very beloved original. I personally think that the scariest part of having another Poppins around, though, is wondering who will play her. They have big shoes to fill, and off the top of my head I couldn’t think of anyone to step in them.

But, after some research and article reading, I found out that Disney may have an ideal list of actresses to play Mary already. Who is first in mind, you ask? Well, lovely readers, Emily Blunt is.

Emily Blunt / Into the Woods

Blunt is known for her movies such as Edge of Tomorrow and Into the Woods. And who knows, maybe she’ll end up being known for Mary Poppins as well! Having Emily Blunt be the star of this fabulous sequel would sure as hell make things a lot better. Am I right?

I’m not sure who else is on that list, but all I know is that whoever they pick must be able to have the whole package! Singing, dancing, leadership, sweetness, loving, and everything else. So Disney, please be careful with our beloved hopes and dreams!

The saddest part of the news, however, is finding out that Julie Andrews won’t be back for round two, or making an appearance at all. Let’s all hope that changes! What do you think about the making of a new Mary Poppins film?

In the meantime, here’s a clip of Emily Blunt singing in Into the Woods – if you have yet to see the musical. She’s so wonderful.
