Spider-Man’s age has been revealed by director Jon Watts!

In this week’s issue of Empire magazine, director of the Untitled Spider-Man reboot Jon Watts discussed what he wants to do with the third Spider-Man since 2002.

“There are only so many times you can kill Uncle Ben.” said Watts, “I love the idea of making a coming-of-age high-school movie. We’re really going to see Peter Parker in high school and get deeper into that side of it. He’s just 15 now.”

We know that he’s already Spider-Man for a year and the film won’t be another origin story. Another interesting point that Watts made was that Tom Holland is the perfect person to play the young Peter Parker.

He says, “Tom was pretty perfect. He’s very athletic. He can actually do a backflip! If he didn’t already capture the spirit of the character, with that on top the kid is Spider-Man.”

We can expect his first appearance into the current Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Although, it is still up in the air as to which side he will be choosing.

The standalone Spider-Man movie hits theaters on July 28, 2017.
