Fox’s Gambit film loses director Rupert Wyatt

Just when you thought the Gambit X-Men spinoff film was free from any trouble when Channing Tatum finally agreed to play the Cajun mutant then think again! The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Rupert Wyatt has decided to leave the spinoff. According to The Hollywood Reporter, changes to the script have caused the film’s budget to be larger than expected, extending the shoot, and prompting the production start date push. Another source told THR that the shooting schedule around Mardi Gras caused the reshuffling. Whatever the case may be, the pushed start date caused Wyatt to exit the film.

“I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project,” Wyatt said in a statement. “I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.”

What do you think of Wyatt’s exit from the film?

Gambit is set to be released on October 7, 2016.
