Frozen to replace Aladdin musical at Disney California Adventure in 2016

Frozen is a phenomenon that has taken the world by an ice storm, and now it will be the new musical coming to Disney California Adventure in the summer of 2016. I’m just hoping that the weather won’t be as hot as this summer in Orange County. Come on, Elsa, work your magic!

If you’re wondering if this is going to replace Disney’s Aladdin: A Musical, sadly, the answer is yes. The new Frozen musical will be located at the Hyperion Theater. Sorry, Genie. The Aladdin show has been running since 2003, but you still have time to catch the show before it ends.

In an interview with Disney Parks Blog, Walt Disney Imagineering’s Portfolio Creative Entertainment Executive Dana Harrel gave some hints on what fans can expect.

“Our stage production of Frozen will stay true to the heart and soul of the film,” said Harrel. “Anna and Elsa will carry the audience on an emotional journey that includes show-stopping production numbers and a few unique theatrical twists. We can’t wait for everyone to see it!”

We can also expect beautiful costumes and sets, special effects and unexpected background transformations.

And here’s what Vice President of Operations for Disney California Adventure park Kris Theiler had to say about the Aladdin musical.

“Thanks to our amazing cast and the many, many fans, Disney’s Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular has enjoyed a longer run at Disney California Adventure park than we could have ever imagined,” said Theiler. “Today, we are excited to share more exciting news about another story that will soon come to life for guests at the Hyperion Theater. With larger-than-life musical numbers, wondrous scenery and lovable characters, Frozen will begin entertaining guests in 2016.”

Are you looking forward to the Frozen musical?
