Snowpiercer to headline ‘Korean Film In Focus’ series in Los Angeles

Korean films in the past few decades have been establishing themselves as an entertainment powerhouse in Asia; right up there with Hong Kong, China and Japan. To celebrate the induction of four Korean filmmakers into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS), the Korean Film Council will be holding free Korean film screening series at the Laemmle Music Hall on September 23 and 25th in Los Angeles.

Films by newly inducted AMPAS members Bong Joon-ho, Im Kwon-taek, Song Kang-ho, and Choi Min-sik will be screened including Revivre (Cremation), The Face Reader, Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time, and the rare theatrical screening of Snowpiercer. Filmmaker, critic, and former Edinburgh International Film Festival Artistic Director, Shane Danielsen, who will also lead a Q&A after each screening, will introduce each screening. Wednesday, September 23
7:30 pm: Revivre (Cremation) by Im Kwon-taek
10:00 pm: The Face Reader, by Han Jae-rim, starring Song Kang-ho

Friday, September 25
5:00 pm: Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time by Yoon Jong-bin
10:00 pm: Snowpiercer by Bong Joon-Ho, starring Song Kang-ho
