Is there a Fallout 4 and Fallout Shelter connection?

With Fallout 4 on the way, I have been biding my time with a massive amount of Fallout Shelter. The game is simply fun and addictive, but I can’t help to wonder why Bethesda didn’t take the opportunity to integrate Fallout Shelter with Fallout 4. Now by no means is the concept of releasing a mini-game and having it affect the larger title later new, but with Fallout Shelter and Fallout 4, it seems like a no-brainer. Here are a few things I would like to see Bethesda mix with both games.

In the Fallout series, the lore of the world is given to you in many different ways. Either through old recordings, talking with people, or just reading files on a computer, you get a lot of history from all over. I would love to see or hear a mention of the vault that I have created in Fallout Shelter. Maybe a brief description of what happened to the inhabitants that reflect how I maintained my vault. Even if it’s just a rumor given to you about the vault from an NPC in Fallout 4, I think that would get me more invested in both games.

Item Sharing

In Fallout Shelter, you can send your dwellers out of the vault to the waste for supplies. Well what if you can meet that dweller in Fallout 4 too, and exchange items with him. A stimpack or two from a vault dweller would be great for early game, and it would be pretty cool to see one of you dwellers run up to you within the new Fallout 4 engine. Who knows, if you decide to kill him, he dies in the Shelter as well. The sheer interaction would get me excited to play both games even more.fallout-shelter-radio-1136x640

Shelter Radio

In Fallout Shelter you can build a radio station, which I think would be cool to have it represented in Fallout 4. It could be a mixture of random music coming from your Shelter vault or a news broadcast giving stats and info on whats going on in you vault. “Hey, a new baby boy was born in Vault 104 today.” Hearing something like that while I’m exploring the wasteland would be just one more thing to get me into the game. Or maybe with future updates to Shelter, you can play music stored on your mobile device from within the game, a sort of customizable soundtrack.

Shelter Exploration

The ultimate thing to bring both games together, would be to let my Fallout 4 character actually find and explore the vault I created in Fallout Shelter. Fallout 4 is sure to be a huge, open-world game, but having a vault that I have spent so mush time crafting and upgrading come to life in Fallout 4 would make it feel somewhat familiar. Seeing the inhabitants walking around and interacting with me would be amazing.  Maybe Bethesda can design unique quests given by your vault dwellers. Being able to see the vault evolve as you upgrade it on Shelter would be a thing of wonder.

I’m not sure if any or all of this is possible, but I for one would sure love to have this type of experience in Fallout 4. What else would you like to see integrated in Fallout 4? Let us know in the comments below.
