There was something mysterious about Final Fantasy VIII’s Triple Triad card game. While there were only a few times to play the card game, there was something enjoyable about taking a break from all the Final Fantasy VIII battles to play this card game. The card game is available for free on iOS and Android by downloading the Final Fantasy Portal app. The FF Portal App is an app that provides the latest news and details on Final Fantasy’s games, books, merchandise, events, and many more.

Triple Triad was simple yet complex at the same time. Each card had four different numbers (or letters) where you take your opponent’s cards by placing a higher number (or letter) next to that number in a 3 x 3 board. You could take one (or in some cases multiple) cards from the loser. The winner is simply the person who had more cards of their color on the field. The game contains 300 cards and allows you to play against the computer or other users.

While the game is free to play, you are limited on how much you can play for free. You start off with five crystals. Every time you play a match, you lose a crystal until you run out. You can wait 30 minutes for one crystal to replenish or spend real money to buy more.

The best part of the game? The cards feature characters from nearly every Final Fantasy game.
