D23 Expo: Pixar brings back this beloved character for Toy Story 4

The Toy Story trilogy has been nothing short of amazing. The emotional roller coasters that Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the toys brought us on are what made us fall in love with these characters. The trilogy were so perfect that John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter and Lee Unkrich swore that they won’t ever make another Toy Story UNLESS they had a worthy enough tale to tell.

It wasn’t until one day, Stanton tossed around ideas with Lasseter, one of which was a continuation of the Toy Story franchise. One was so good, both Stanton and Lasseter secretly furthered the idea and Stanton gave “an amazing” treatment which made Lasseter give the go-ahead on making Toy Story 4.

Lasseter described how each Toy Story film was inadvertently a different genre. This time around Toy Story 4 will be “a love story with Woody and — and this is new — Bo Peep.” Yes, Woody and Buzz will go on a journey to find Bo Peep, Woody’s love interest who was gone in Toy Story 3.

Lasseter will return to the director’s chair for the fourth installment while Rashida Jones and Will McCormack will be charged with screenwriting duties for the film.

With the announcement of Woody’s search for Bo Peep, it’s clear that there is still one more chapter to be told in the Toy Story franchise.
