There were fans and experts speculating that Disney might be expanding at the Disneyland Resort for new themed areas like Star Wars Land or Marvel Land since the company was buying up land this year and last year. As for the rights for Marvel characters at a theme park, it seems that Universal may have lost the rights to use them in Anaheim. Now… for Star Wars Land, we have a new rumor from MiceChat that Disney is planning many attractions, including a big E Ticket ride that features “a trackless vehicle that will break the mold when it comes to how theme park visitors interact with a ride environment.”

It was speculated that the new lands would take the spot of the newly purchased land, as seen below in the Manchester building area.

Well, it looks like Star Wars Land is going to be placed at the top part of Disneyland. By looking at the map below, Toon Town looks to be intact, but other areas are looking to be replaced. What’s interesting is that Star Wars Land is separated from Tomorrowland, an area that has been featuring Star Wars activities including Star Tours and the Star Wars Jedi Training Academy.

As you can see, that’s a sizable chunk. That area is already home to the Festival Arena, the Circle D Ranch and rehearsal halls and office buildings. According to the report, the horses and other animals from the Circle D Ranch will be relocated to a new area nearby. The rehearsal halls will be moved to the 1515 S. Manchester building in the short term (see above map). Later on that building will also be used as phase two of the Pumbaa parking structure, expanding it to over 8,000 spaces. The first phase will open 5,000 spaces in 2018. The smaller 1585 S. Manchester building will be taken down for the new parking structure.

It’s also reported that the Imagineering lab in Glendale is where they’re developing the new rides and shows for Star Wars land. Security has been beefed up, since they’ll be using plotlines and characters from the new Star Wars trilogy.

Let’s see if Disney will announce anything during D23 Expo this weekend.
