Sword Art Online film Indiegogo campaign launched

Hello there, anime fans! For the past year and a half I’ve been working on a live-action film adaptation of the series Sword Art Online, more specifically the first 14 episodes.

Why now and not in 2013? Time, money and the fact that it took me a year to write a decent script for it.

Now I know what you’re thinking, “Oh crap, it’s going to be another one of thoseĀ Last Airbender-type of adaptations isn’t it?” Well cast those worries aside, because this is going to be an 80% faithful adaptation. Why 80%? We’ve replaced a literal METRIC TON of the filler that was in there with more fight scenes and we’ve localized the names/places involved. Other than that it’s going to be the entire 1st 14 episodes compressed into a 90-minute movie.

So why the crowdfunding campaign? Filmmaking is expensive and this is no exception. With sets needing to be built, costumes to be made and bought, practical effects needing to be crafted and green screen studio time needed for filming some of the more difficult scenes, the cost can really add up, and we need $25k in order to complete the film. What that money covers is a lot, with the aforementioned costumes and effects as well as aiding in getting some more essential equipment like more camera lenses and lights.

So won’t you help out an independent filmmaker by donating $1 to the cause and show Hollywood that not every adaptation of an anime has to be complete and utter garbage?

What do you say to describe a guy who only sleeps 4 days out of the week? Probably a lot but if you ever see an obscure story about some kind of food product, indie game or something that doesn't quite fit on this site, you can (almost) guarantee this guy wrote it. Whether or not he was awake while it was written is anybody's guess.
