Poltergeist director to helm Five Nights at Freddy’s film

This month was already off to a great start for fans of Five Nights at Freddy’s when creator Scott Cawthon decided to release the game much earlier than he previously announced. Since then, many theorists and fans have picked apart the new installment for any clues or hints that would better broaden the already impressive lore that fans have come to know and love. Speaking of Five Nights at Feddy’s, Warner Bros has just announced that they have tapped Gil Kenan to direct their live-action film based on the poplar franchise. Oh, boy…

Gil Kenan is probably more recently known for his work on the remake to the horror classic Poltergeist, a film that was universally trashed by critics and fans alike and generated a 33% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Kenan will co-write the film with Taylor Burton Smith, who has had some experience writing for video games in the past.

It is worth nothing that Kenan was the director behind the critically acclaimed Monster House. It is only recently that his approval rating has seemed to be in the decline.

Do you think Gil Kenan will be a good fit for Five Nights at Freddy’s? Let us know in the comments below.
