Summer Games Done Quick is a week-long charity speedrunning marathon

Twice a year the speed running communities of SpeedRunsLive and Speed Demos Archive come together to raise money for charity. SGDQ (Summer Games Done Quickly) is the second event of the year, following January’s AGDQ (Awesome Games Done Quickly) where over 140 video games from dozens of consoles and PCs are played non-stop starting Sunday, July 26th, all the way until Saturday, August 1st.

All of the money raised via SGDQ will benefit Doctors Without Borders. Throughout the stream fans can donate to meet donation goals which includes naming character or save files, difficulty and the infamous save or kill the animals in Super Metroid.

Back in January AGDQ raised $1.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, and for SGDQ they hope to raise even more for such a great cause while showcasing how much speed running games like Chrono Trigger, Halo 3, Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Oregon Trail can be.

You can see the full schedule for SGDQ here and watch the whole event live on Twitch.
