Bryan Singer confirms X-Men and Fantastic Four crossing over?

X-Men and Fantastic Four

Since the dawn of comic book movies, there has been one unified cry that has rung across the land, sparking a fire within the dreams of comic readers everywhere, and dancing on the tongues of little fanboys and fangirls all around the world: LET THEM CROSS OVER! Well, it looks like our cries are being heard, and our dreams are going to come true, because, ladies and gentlemen, we got some news for you!

Bryan Singer, director and executive producer for last year’s box office hit X-Men: Days of Future Past and next year’s follow-up X-Men: Apocalypse, spoke with Yahoo! Movies and stated that the recent rumors of a crossover with FOX’s other Marvel property, Fantastic Four, have some truth to them.

“Those ideas are in play,” he says. “That would be a natural match-up because they’re both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it.” Singer was a bit coy about how this will play out to unite the two franchises, but he did give us one more piece of information. “It deals with time, that’s all I’m going to say.”

Crossovers have been a staple in comic book lore for many years, ranging from crossovers by Avengers and X-Men, X-Men and Fantastic Four, all the Spider-Men, even the famed DC crossover with Marvel! Seeing how much Singer has invested into this franchise and knowing his greatest desire to create a project that shows the fullest potential of the source material, I have great faith that he’ll knock it out of the park. The only thing that is against us is time, and knowing how anything can happen from now until then with the project, we’ll just have to wait and see where the chips fall.

Fantastic Four will be released August 7th, and X-Men: Apocalypse will be released May 27, 2016.
