Space Jam 2 might be happening as LeBron James signs on with Warner Bros.

Space Jam was a movie that’s near and dear to the hearts of most of us that grew up in the ’90s. It had some of the most iconic cartoon characters (Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, etc.) from Warner Bros. and a lot of the NBA’s best from the ’92 Dream Team including Michael Jordan. And let’s not forget the man himself, Bill Murray. The film was definitely something for the ages.

Fast forward almost 20 years, and we’re hearing rumblings of a possible second film. What’s supporting that is NBA superstar LeBron James signing an agreement with Warner Bros. Entertainment, which covers projects for television, film and original digital content. This doesn’t exactly scream Space Jam 2, but what else could it possibly be? It is something to note that just a month ago, Warner Bros. filed a new trademark for Space Jam.

Warner Bros. chairman and CEO had this to say of the penned agreement:

LeBron James has one of the most powerful, well-known brands in the world and we are excited to be in business with him and his partner, Maverick Carter, and SpringHill Entertainment. The combination of LeBron’s global media presence and Warner Bros.’ unmatched production and distribution expertise is a big win for fans everywhere.”

I’m sort of excited and not at the same time. On one hand, it’s a beloved franchise that I’d like to see untouched. On the other hand, my interest is piqued as to what they can do with the film, if it is being made. I guess we’ll just have o wait and see.
