Is Mafia III in production?

The first Mafia was released in 2002.

If you’ve been playing the Mafia video game series since the beginning, you’re in for a treat because it looks like there’s been a hint of Mafia III being in the works by Take-Two Interactive. The strange thing is that we haven’t heard anything about Mafia for quite some time until it was found out from NeoGAF that these domain names were taken by Take-Two Interactive:,,,

The Mafia games have been standing on their own legs because of its storytelling and character development. If you didn’t know, the first Mafia game was released in the early 2000s and it’s still a gem. The fact that it was a third-person sandbox game had people immediately comparing it to GTA during that time. However the difference between the Mafia games and GTA is the time period and its gritty realism. The game didn’t have you doing crazy jet skiing chases or have you talking to hillbillies for a mission, no. You started at the bottom, and worked your way up through ranks as an enforcer for the mob.

With Mafia III being a possibility for a future release, that means we’ll hopefully get another great game that takes place during the heyday of the mobster era, aka the 1920s to the 1950s. I personally just hope that it doesn’t just end on a random cliffhanger like in Mafia II. Perhaps you continue from that point? We all won’t know until the game is “released.”

Still not convinced? What about this leaked video showing a teaser for Mafia III?
