We Happy Few, the 1st-person survival game, has reached its Kickstarter goal of $201,353. The game is made by Compulsion Games, the same team behind Contrast, the retro 3d and 2D puzzle platformer. The game mixes the past and the future, similar to BioShock and Fallout, and puts you into an eerie world where people have creepy white makeup and creepy smiles.

Check out the debut trailer below:

We Happy Few is the tale of a plucky bunch of slightly terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful delusion. Set in a drug-fuelled, retro-futuristic city in an alternative history 1964 England, you’ll have to blend in with its other citizens, who don’t take kindly to people who don’t abide by their not-so-normal rules.

The game will have a dynamic world, where if you die or beat the game, the layout of Wellington Wells will be different. Escaping the city won’t be a cakewalk, and you’ll have to act a certain way or the people will find you odd. To fit in, you must be taking your Joy, or be identified as a Downer.
