Official trailer for Creed shows us what’s worth fighting for

Creed

“It ain’t about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward.”

Warner Bros. New Line Cinema, and MGM Pictures have released the official trailer for the new upcoming boxing film, Creed. Starring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone, the film chronicles the journey for Adonis Johnson, Apollo Creed’s son, as he makes his way in creating a name for himself in the boxing world. Under the guidance of the all-time great and friend of his father, Rocky Balboa, Adonis will find that his toughest battles to come, in the ring and in life.

The studios have brought on writer/director Ryan Coogler, known for 2013’s Fruitvale Station, to head the latest installment in the Rocky franchise. Also from Fruitvale Station as well the upcoming sci-fi film, Fantastic Four, Jordan carries a strong commanding presence as the son of Apollo Creed, setting the stage for the iconic team-up with the man who started the franchise in the beginning, Sylvester Stallone.

As a fan of the franchise, I’m actually a bit more excited about this film than I am of the last one, Rocky Balboa. Creed gives us a more realistic approach to the age-old story, in our modern day era. Only time will tell how great it will be, by how much more information is given on the film as the days go by. In the end, though, I think this one will definitely give a breath of fresh air to the series, and allow moviegoers, young and old, something to cheer for, in the end. Much like its predecessors, Creed will show us that you can be a true champion, in and out of the ring, by believing in yourself.

Creed is set to take to the ring November 25, 2015.
