Therapist brought on Suicide Squad set for actors

An actor’s job is to portray a character and sell that character to the audience. Sometimes the actor can take the role too far, and that can lead to issues. That’s where David Ayer stepped in… by hiring a therapist to prevent actors from blurring the line between fantasy and reality on the Suicide Squad set, according to E! News.

Adam Beach, who plays Slipknot, said that the therapist was less of a psychologist or psychiatrist and more of a “life coach.”

“We kind of have like a therapist on board if you fall off the wagon and really are villainous,” Beach said. “There’s a friend of [Ayer’s] that’s very unique in making sure we have our ground…Us actors explore very fine thin lines going to the dark side and he wants to make sure we finish a movie and don’t disappear somewhere and then don’t show up for work.”

Many thought that Heath Ledger did a great job as the Joker in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, and that lead to many thinking that it was part of the reasons why he passed away. The Joker is a very iconic villain, and that’s probably why the therapist is on the set. Jared Leto, who plays the Joker in Suicide Squad, has teased his fans before at his 30 Seconds to Mars concerts and posting Joker pics. He has a big task of presenting his version of the Joker to the public, and he’ll need all the help he can get.

Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
