Marvel already has Ava DuVernay on board for directing Black Panther?

There are many rumors on who would be directing Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther film. Since it stars a black character, it seems like the studio is strictly looking for black directors. One of the promising directors was Ava DuVernay, who recently directed Selma. Now we have a report from MCU Exchange saying that Marvel Studios has finally brought her on board.

So if this is the case, why are they hiring her at this time when the movie doesn’t come out until July 6, 2018? Well, since Captain America: Civil War is currently filming and is heavily featuring Black Panther and possibly Wakanda, it’s probably a good way to have DuVernay be on the set so that she can get a feel for Black Panther.

So if DuVernay is directing, should fans be worrying? She has admitted that she’s not a fan of comic books:

“I’m not a big comic book fan,” she told Hitflix back in February, “but I know I love to deconstruct heroes, deconstruct myths. I probably want to do some origin story. You know, where you get to the core of it before they get their powers.”

You probably won’t have to worry, since Marvel has been taking care of the script. Documentary filmmaker Mark Bailey was brought in by Marvel to work on the draft. As for the new script, it’s said that Marvel is still looking for a screenwriter.

Do you think DuVernay is a good choice for directing Black Panther? Sound off below!
