If you have seen Mad Max: Fury Road, then you would know that Tom Hardy’s Max played a secondary character to Charlize Theron’s Imperator Furiosa, the woman who was desperately seeking a safe haven for her and her female companions. Yes, the movie highlights women empowerment, and some out there are still struggling with that.

During the Cannes Film Festival panel, The Toronto Star’s Peter Howell said that he knows what it feels like to be “outgunned by estrogen,” describing that he’s surrounded by his wife, sisters, and mother. He asked Hardy, “As you were reading the script, did you ever think, ‘Why are all these women in here? I thought this was supposed to be a man’s movie?'”

Hardy replies with a simple, “No. Not for one minute. I mean, that’s kind of obvious.”

Mad Max: Fury Road is currently in theaters. Check out our review here.
