John Williams to include classic theme in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

There was a time when movie series back then had theme songs that carried over to later movies. For example, you were treated to similar themes in movie series like Tim Burton’s Batman, RoboCop, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park and Back to the Future. The new generation of movies certainly aren’t concerned with keeping up with tradition, as we get different themes for series like Captain America and X-Men.

Star Wars fans should be happy with the latest news, since Star Wars composer John Williams will be revisiting familiar tunes for the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie. In an interview with Vanity Fair, he said that the iconic theme will be coming back.

“There are some scenes where we do make reference to earlier thematic pieces. We haven’t done it yet, but we’re planning to do it. It’s something that I think will seem very natural and right in the moments for which we’ve chosen to do these kinds of quotes. There aren’t many of them, but there are a few that I think are important and will seem very much a part of the fabric of the piece in a positive and constructive way.”

Williams also praised director J.J. Abrams, since he was given free reigns to compose his own score. Essentially he was asked to “just do [his] thing.”
