Oscar Isaac looks to bring biblical wrath in X-Men: Apocalypse

There’s a lot of news generating around Oscar Issac’s role in the next X-Men movie where he will be portraying their ultimate villain, Apocalypse. If you don’t know who Apocalypse is, just know that he’s known to be one of the first mutants in human history and is near omnipotent with his mutant powers. X-Men: Apocalypse is said to be the last piece for a few of the actors like Jennifer Lawrence and Hugh Jackman, but is a first time for Oscar Isaac. Although from his recent statements, it looks like he’s more than willing to take up the mantle.

Oscar Isaac may not be in the status of other Hollywood elites like Robert Downey Jr, but he’s fast climbing that ladder after his recent performance on the movie Ex Machina. Some people on the net questioned his acting chops and were wondering how he’d fair playing as one of the X-Men’s deadliest foes. Well in a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, it seems like he’s ready to take up the role and run with it with a little assistance from Bryan Singer.

“I’ve been reading the script a lot and trying to come at — for me — an interesting angle,” Isaac explained. He said that he was “definitely focusing on the fact [that his character] is the embodiment of the second coming of the judgments of God and that energy going in. We’re playing with that.

[We’re] trying to … make his philosophy and [mission] one that is both simple but also holds water, that really makes sense throughout the whole movie,” promising that the three have “come up with something very cool” as a result.”

A lot of us comic book geeks know who Apocalypse is, and we know that he’s an extremely large and intimidating being. I’m actually not sure how they’ll approach his physical aspects in the movie for Mr. Isaac, but I’m going to guess that they will add some CGI to it in order to make him look like a fear-inducing mutant. Again to reiterate, Apocalypse’s powers and physique aren’t going to be easily translated on-screen. In the comics he’s 7’0 tall and has easily taken down powerhouses like the Hulk. Whether or not they tone down his powers and physical traits are going to be in Bryan Singer’s and Fox’s hands.

X-Men: Apocalypse releases next year on May 27th, 2016.

“Mutant must fight mutant, if the weak are to be winnowed from the strong. And when only the strong are left, Apocalypse will make his move. Pray, all of you, that you are among the strong.” -En Sabah Nur (Apocalypse)
