JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: The Complete First Season coming July 28

Fans of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (JoJo no Kimyō na Bōken) series are in for a treat. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced that it will be releasing the complete first series on July 28th, both digitally and on DVD.

Based of the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure originally appeared in Weekly Shōnen Jump back in 1986. It follows the adventures of the different Joestar family members as they face off against the curse of the Joestar family line.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: The Complete First Season features all 26 episodes on 3 DVDs featuring the first two arcs of the series Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency. In the first arc, Jonathan Joestar meets his new adopted brother, Dio Brando, who is plotting to take over the Joestar fortune but ultimately fails and uses an ancient stone mask that transforms him into a powerful vampire. The second arc takes place 50 years later and introduces Joseph Joestar, the grandson of Jonathan Joestar who finds himself fighting vampires and ancient super beings.

“Few manga series have risen to the level of popularity of this franchise, making it a true privilege to release this epic anime series on DVD and digital,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Vice President, Family & Animation Marketing. “The sheer scope of the first, multigenerational season of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: The Complete First Season, and this series’ unique place in the pop culture canon, makes this a ‘must-have’ for fans across the globe.”
