Angelina Jolie to direct Marvel’s Captain Marvel?

Captain Marvel

With Warner Bros. already having a female director for its female-led superhero movie, Wonder Woman, the balls now on Marvel’s court for its next female superhero solo movie. Collider is reporting that Angelina Jolie is “under consideration” to direct the upcoming Captain Marvel movie.

Jolie recently directed Unbroken, a World War II movie that received mixed reactions from critics. I personally haven’t seen the movie, but with the mixed reactions, I’m kind of worried. It also seems like Marvel Studios is trying to join WB’s shoes by looking for a female director.

As for me, I don’t care if it’s a male or female director, just as long as they can deliver an awesome movie. However, I feel that both studios are limiting the talent pool by going this route. What do you guys think about the studios strictly looking for female directors, if that’s the case?

Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Pixar’s Inside Out) working on the script.

Marvel still has some time to find its director, since Captain Marvel hits theaters on November 2, 2018.
