Rodea the Sky Soldier officially soars into stores this September

Earlier this year I had a chance to attend a press event for NIS America. While most games made by NIS end up on Sony platforms, this year they had a game that will exclusively launch for the Wii U and 3DS called Rodea the Sky Soldier.

Nights creator Yuji Naka and Zin Hasegawa have teamed up for Rodea, a high speed adventure/platformer that has you soaring through the skies and taking on larger-than-life boss battles.

You play as Rodea, a machine soldier that has been in slumber for 1,000 years after his heroic efforts protected the Garuda empire from the invasion of the Naga empire led by Emperor Geardo. An eccentric inventor named Ion has been busy reviving Rodea after finding him in the desert in the hopes of stopping the Naga empire from once again attempting to take over Garuda. With peace being in jeopardy, Rodea takes to the skies to continue on his 1,000 year promise to protect Garuda from its intruders.

Featuring colossal battles, fun upgrades, the ability to touch the sky literally, a strong narrative, time trials for speed runners, and hidden upgrades for perfectionists, it all adds up for what could be endless hours of fun.

Rodea the Sky Soldier will be released on the Wii U and 3DS on September 23rd in North America and September 25th in Europe.
