Sony purchases parts of OnLive, killing off service on April 30

onlive-logoOnLive has had a very troubled life and now it seems that the game streaming service is finally down for the count. It was announced on April 1st that Sony has purchased the remaining parts of the company. What Sony plans to do with those parts is unknown at this time. What we do know is that OnLive servers will be shut down on April 30, 2015. All accounts will be deleted, games saves, achievements, and credit card info all of it.

If OnLive subscribers purchased Steam games, those will still be available on Steam, but everything else will cease to exist. Things like the PlayPass will no longer be available, and what’s worse, if you purchased the OnLive Game System…well that hardware will go to the graveyard. However, if you purchased the hardware after February 1, 2015, then you will get a refund notice via email.
