In 2006 the four high school girls formed SCANDAL in Osaka, Japan, while attending the same dance and vocal school. The band and their music are equal parts pop, rock, and all things girl power, and is comprised of Haruna (lead vocals & rhythm guitar), Mami (lead guitar & back up vocals), Tomomi (bass & lead vocal), Rina (drums, keyboard, guitar & back up vocals). Their major debut single, “DOLL”, garnered major success and popularity over the past half decade and has influenced many teenage girls to pick up musical instruments and also inspired many similar bands. Their music has also been utilized for opening theme songs in multiple anime franchises such as Bleach and Full Metal Alchemist, and they also contributed the theme song for the Diancie Pokemon movie. SCANDAL is one of the most popular groups in Japan and with their songs being used in movies, anime and other TV shows, it has helped them to gain international fandom.
