Arnold Schwarzenegger has been known for many action roles, like Conan the Barbarian, but the one role that he’s most famous for is portraying the T-800 in the Terminator films. If he likes the story, he’ll be down to reprise his role, and we’ll be seeing that with the upcoming Terminator Genisys from director Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones).

In an interview with Slashfilm, the actor revealed his excitement for the new movie’s script and how it got him on board, especially with it “kinda” ignoring McG’s Terminator Salvation. (Christian Bale has mentioned before that he would never do another movie with McG again.)

“Well, I always said that I would do another Terminator if the story was great, and I really enjoyed this story when I read it,” Schwarzenegger said. “I think that the people who were involved made me feel like this was going to be a good movie and that they were going to go all out with the project. It’s not just ‘Let’s exploit this franchise and live off of some of the great ones that we’d done in the past.’ They really took it seriously. They really figured out a way to continue the story and kind of ignore the last one, basically.”

The film stars Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, Jason Clarke, J.K. Simmons, Byung-Hun Lee and Matt Smith.

Terminator Genisys hits theaters on July 1, 2015.
