John Williams won’t be scoring Star Wars’ Rogue One

John-Williams

When you think of Star Wars music, you automatically think of John Williams. The Star Wars theme is one of the most recognizable themes out there. Now we have news that he won’t be composing the score for Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars spin-off film, Rogue One. Alexandre Desplat will be taking his spot, making it the first Star Wars film to not feature music from the legendary composer. (Let’s hope his theme is still used when the opening credits pop up.)

Some will be disappointed, but hopefully Desplat can keep with the spirit of the original trilogy. He recently won an Oscar for his music in Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel. He also worked on The Imitation Game, Argo, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Zero Dark Thirty and more.

It’s not all bad news, since we will still be getting John Williams’ music in The Force Awakens, Episode VIII and IX.
