It hasn’t been that long since the arrival of the Wii U, but Nintendo already has their sights set on a new console. Head honcho Iwata Satoru himself confirmed the news at a press conference held today. Code-named “NX”, it is a new dedicated gaming platform, but that’s all he was willing to spill. Kotaku reports that the company will share more next year.

In addition to a new console, Nintendo is collaborating  with mobile game giant DeNA to develop smartphone titles. This is a huge step for Nintendo, having dominated the portable game systems for nearly 25 years. Iwata mentions that part of the smartphones games were meant to draw new consumers to their consoles.

Anyone want to guess what NX will stand for?
