Monster’s Superstar signing with Shaq

Monster, known for bringing us the original Beats by Dre, just released their newest in portable audio with its Superstar: a waterproof speaker able to be submerged in small pools of water. We were able to catch a few demos as well as test out these speakers during the launch event attended by none other than Shaquille O’neal. Endorsing this new line of small speakers is the Laker’s own past monster. While the speaker was absolutely dwarfed by his size, this gentle giant stayed to sign products in limited supply, with a few other lucky fans receiving signatures on their own memorabilia.

The event took place in Fullerton’s Newegg express center. Definitely worth a visit sometime, the area plays host to many major technology retailers such as MSI and Gigabyte. With tons of goodies lining the walls Monster’s podium, we took a small stroll through what one could describe as a PC builder’s wet dream.

While we don’t have a review out on this portable speaker just yet, first impressions weren’t the greatest. What it lacked in sound clarity and level, it did somewhat make up for with its PSP-esque design. Seriously, we thought they were selling PSPs at first.

Along with the signing, a Shaq-Fu tournament took place with the winner going toe to toe with the champ himself. Fans walked away happy to meet the star himself, and take home something signed by one of the NBA’s most beloved icons.
